(Avicel, magnesium stearate, talc, aerosil, sodium starch glycolate, PVP, HPMC,

PEG 6000, silver-colored powder, titanium dioxide, black ferric oxide).

DOSAGE FORM: Film coated tablets.

PRESENTATION: Box of 3 blisters x 10 film coated tablets.

 INDICATIONS: Prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in those associated with getting a high risk of diseases: women aged > 30 years, the elderly, alcoholics, and smokers. Prevention and treatment of osteomalacia. Supplement of calcium, vitamin D to pregnant and breast-feeding women, children and adolescents during the growth phase.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug.

Hypercalcaemia. Severe renal impairment, nephrolith.

PRECAUTIONS: Mild to moderate renal impairment or a history of nephrolith.

INTERACTIONS: Tetracycline, flour, estramustine, biphosphonates, phenytoin, quinolones prevent the absorption of calcium; thus, the interval between oral doses of Davita Bone and these above drugs should be 3 hrs.

Thiazide diuretics reduce calciuria secretion, risk of hypercalcaemia. Concurrent administration of high-dose calcium and digitalis increases a risk of cardiataxia.

ADVERSE EFFECTS: Gastrointestinal tract disturbances (constipation, indigestion, diarrhoea) have been rarely reported.

Inform your physician about any adverse effects occur during the treatment.

OVERDOSAGE: Blood calcium concentration of over 2.6 mmol/ l (10.5 mg/ 100 ml) is considered hypercalcaemia.

Patients with no clinical manifestations and normal renal function only need to discontinue the administration of calcium-containing drugs.

Blood calcium concentration of over 2.9 mmol/ l (120 mg/ 100 ml) must apply the following methods: Perfusion by intravenous infusion with sodium chloride 0.9%; compulsory diuresis by furosemide or ethacrynic acid. Observe the blood potassium and magnesium concentrations and replace the blood early to prevent complications during the therapy. Monitor the cardiogram and possibly use beta-blockers to prevent severe cardiataxia. Determine the blood calcium level at the given time in order to orient the therapy method.

 

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:

Davita Bone is able to be taken at any time of the day. It is advisable to use after meals with much water.

Prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia or supplement of daily calcium demand: Children aged 6 - 12 years: 1 tablet once daily.

Adults and children aged > 12 years: 1 tablet twice daily.

Treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia: 2 tablets twice daily.

Or as directed by the physician.
