  • PHARMACODYNAMIC

    Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme, which acts on selective catalysis of peptide bonds adjoining to aromatic amino acids. The drug is used for reducing inflammation and soft tissue oedema associated with abscess, ulcer or injuries. It also helps fluidize the upper respiratory tract secretion in patients with asthma, bronchitis, pneumopathy, and sinusitis.

    This drug does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

  • CAREFUL

    It is not recommended for use in cataract surgery in patients under 20 years of age.
    Chymotrypsin should not be used for patients with increased vitreous pressure and opened wound or patients with congenital cataracts.

  • PREGNANT AND LACTATING WOMEN

    Chymotrypsin should not be given to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

  • DRUG INTERACTIONS

    Chymotrypsin is most often used in combination with other enzymes to enhance its treatment potential.
    Chymotrypsin should not be co-administered with acetylcysteine.
    Chymotrypsin should not be used together with anticoagulant agents, as it increases their effects.

  • UNWANTED EFFECTS

    Most common: Transient glaucoma. Used in ophthalmology: corneal edema, mild uveitis may occur.
    Due to the antigenic properties of chymotrypsin, allergic reactions may occur when used at high dose.
    Inform your physician about any adverse effects occur during the treatment.

    Adults: sublingual use: 1-2 tablets x 3-4 times daily.
